Balthazar is a Partner at IMAP Netherlands, which he founded alongside Remco Schouten on 1st April 2005. Previous to this, he worked at KPMG Corporate Finance, where he advised on international and domestic complex acquisitions and business successions in various sectors, focusing on medium-sized enterprises. Balthazar began his involvement in M&A in 1993, working for supermarket chain Unigro (Laurus) and further developing his expertise with retailer Vendex/KBB, where approximately 100 new stores for one of the brands, Bruna, were opened over a 3 year period.
Balthazar has conducted training courses on buying and selling companies for entrepreneurs, account managers with banks, accountants, and officials within industry bodies and has experience as a Guest Lecturer of Rotterdam School of Management at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
His sector expertise is in AgriFood (fruit and vegetable trading, feed and growers), Business Services (payrolling and Human Resources IT), Healthcare IT and Travel IT.
Balthazar has been engaged in China-related transactions for 10 years and established the IMAP Netherlands China Desk in 2011.
Balthazar holds an MBA in Business Administration from the Open University and a BBA in Business Economics from The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
